The creation of the international Vegan Flag was announced on
2017-06-09 [1, 2]. It was created by the vegan activist Gad Hakimi, a
designer from Israel, with the online assistance from a number of
vegan activists from several countries [1, 2]. The flag displays a
white inverted chevron between three triangles, the one within the
chevron in green and the other two in blue. These colors symbolize the
connection of humanity to the animals represented by their natural
habitats: blue stands for the sea and air, green for the land and
white for unity [2]. The flag has quickly spread worldwide: there are
examples of its use in Israel [3, 4, 5], United Kingdom [6],
California [3, 7], Croatia [3, 8] and the Philippines [3, 9]. It was
also flown by the mountaineers at the mountain peaks, such as the
Himlung Himal mountain in the Himalaya range [10] and the Elbrus
mountain in the Caucasus range [11], as well as used at the
LGBT-related events, such as the Belgrade Pride 2018 in Serbia [12] and the Equality Parade 2023 in Warsaw, Poland [13].
