Description

Local Council Modi'in is situated in the middle of the road between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, north of Highway 1. Established in 1993 as a new city planned to reach a population of 250,000 inh, it now has 12,000 inh. and growing. As many other new settlements (and also some old ones), Modi'in didn't find the colours to represent itself and used various colours [on its flags]. I drew the flag as white with the emblem in natural colours, but I wouldn't be surprised to see only an outlined emblem and the field in different colours. The municipal emblem was published in the official gazette (Rashumot), 'Publications Gazette' section (Yalkut HaPirsumim), YP 4555, 7 August 1997.

According to 2003 legislation, Municipality of Modi'in (Municipality since 2001) and Local Council of Maccabim-Re'ut were united into one municipality (Municipality of Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut) with 48,000 inh.
It seems that the new municipality will continue to use Modi'in symbols (maybe with modified inscription).
According to the municipal site the emblem was adoptef on February 1996 and it combines past and present. The green triangle represent Ben Shemen woods, the white line that diagonally divide the triangle represent the mountainous topography, the Maccabi's torch and the red color represent the connection to the anciant Maccabi's and the serrated part of the torch that creat urban skyline, represent a built city.
