újhartyán is a small town in Dabas district of Pest County, located in southern part of the county.
újhartyán is one of the oldest settlements in Pest County. In its present location, there was a village called Hartyán in the Middle Ages.
After the Conquest of Hungary, the settlement may have been the tribal residence of the horka (tribal judge) of the princely tribe.
The settlement developed into a village of minor nobility by the 13th century and flourished until the Turkish invasion.
The name of the village was first recorded in the bull of Pope Innocent V in 1276 in the form of "villa Harquian".
Its final destruction was caused by the "long war" that began in 1593, also known as the 15-year war.
Not a single resident of Hartyán survived the expulsion of the Turks. From then on, Hartyán was an uninhabited wasteland for 167 years.
In the first half of the 1700s, Hungarian, German, and Slovak serfs were settled here.
The area of újhartyán was significantly reduced in 1946, as two new municipalities were formed from its territory: Hernád and újlengyel.
The settlement received town status on 15 July 2013.

The flag of the town consists of two parts, divided vertically, hoist part is blue, while the fly part is white.
The coat of arms is placed in the center of the flag, while its name is placed under the shield and written in Gothic black letters.
Its ratio is 2:3, but 1:2 version is also used especially it is hoisted outside.
The flag was originally adopted in 1994. The current legislation is the Municipal Decree No. 3/2018 (III.28.) adopted on 28 March 2018:

The coat of arms is a shield divided vertically in the middle, in the right-hand field of which the ancient colors of the árpáds,
red and silver stripes can be seen, referring to the founding of the village in the árpád era.
This symbol expresses the most important event in the history of the settlement, the first settlement in the árpád era.
On the blue background of the left-hand field (referring to the Swabian population) is a symbol taken from the village seal,
which is a connected sheaf of wheat. This latter symbol refers to the diligence and agricultural activity of the settled Swabians.
