Overview

Tura is a town in Aszód district of Pest County.
Its first known mention dates back to 1220, in the Várad regestrum charter that was created at that time it is mentioned as Thwra (probably confused with today's Nyírtura). Its first real mention is known from 1394. It was the ancient estate of the ákos family, and from 1438 it became the property of the Rozgonyi family. In 1544 it came under Turkish rule, but was never completely depopulated.
Its real population can be dated back to the 18th century. As a result of agricultural activity, trade flourished, and the produced goods were sold in the markets of Buda, Pest, Miskolc, Hatvan, Vác, Gyöngyös.
Tura became a town in 2001.
