Overview

Tápiószele is a town in Nagykáta district of Pest county, located in south-eastern part of the county.
It has been a long-inhabited settlement. The earliest archaeological finds date back to the Neolithic Age. The first documented mention of Tápiószele is from 1219, it is found in the Várad register under the name Scela. Tápiószele was destroyed during the Tatar invasion, then repopulated at the end of the 13th century.
In the 15th century, it was the property of the Acsai, then the Garai family, and later the king. From 1559 it belonged to the Turkish dominion, from 1686 the settlement was uninhabited, in 1690 the name of the village is listed among the abandoned places. Its resettlement began in 1723.
Tápiószele became a town on 01 July 2009.

The Flag

The flag of the town consists of two horizontal stripes, yellow over blue. The colors are identical with colors of Pest county’s flag. The coat of arms is placed in the center of the flag. The name of town is written under the shield with golden yellow letters in arc. Ratio is 1:2.
The flag was originally adopted in 1997. The current legislation is Municipal Decree No. 1/2023 (I.26.) adopted on 26 January 2023:

The Coat of Arms

The coat of arms is a shield, divided into three parts. In the right blue field depicted a golden (yellow) plow, from behind which three golden (yellow) ears of wheat grow. In the left blue field, also blue, a seven-cluster, staked golden (yellow) vine is depicted. In the lower third of the middle golden (yellow) field, a blue rippling river is seen, above which a horizontal blue fish is placed. The shield is surrounded on both sides by two green olive branches crossed at the bottom on their stems. The settlement name is written in black capital letters in a semicircle under the shield. The shield is topped with a five-leafed golden crown.
The coat of arms was adopted by the same Municipal Decree.
