The municipality of Primorski Dolac (839 inhabitants in 2001) was formed in 1997 by secession from the municipality of Kaštelanska Zagora, afterwards renamed Lećevica. Primorski Dolac is located inlands from Trogir and Šibenik, without direct access to the coast. The municipality is located in a valley between mountains Trovro and Praža, therefore the name Dolac meaning "a valley". Most of the population is employed by the railroads that passes through the valley. Prior the water supply lines were introduced in the 1920s, the place was known as Suhi Dolac ("Dry Valley"). The Italian name is recorded as Vallan.
