DryShips Inc., based in Amaroussion but registered in the Marshall Islands, is an owner and operator of dry-bulk carriers and offshore oil deep water drilling that operate worldwide. The company, founded in September 2004 by George Economou, manages a 3.4 million-DWT fleet of tankers and dry-bulk carriers.

Cardiff Marine, the related technical and commercial ship-management company, was founded in 1991 by George Economou.
Forbes, 25 February 2008, describes Economou's controversial family business and attempts to explain the blurred links between Cardiff Marine and DryShips.

Josef Nuesse's flag collection (no longer available online) shows the house flag of Cardiff Marine as horizontally divided golden yellow- blue-golden yellow. The design is confirmed by a drawing of the company house flag shown on the Cardiff Marine corporate website.
