Created in 1948 under the name of SDCEO (Syndicat départemental des communes électrifiés de l’Orne), Territoire d’Énergie Orne, usually called “Te61”, is an intercommunal structure (a "syndicat mixte" : a joint venture between various public authorities of different types) that brings together the 385 municipalities of the department. The communities adhere to the Territoire d’Énergie Orne for its founding competence: the organizing authority for the distribution of electricity in the department. To support these municipalities in the current energy challenges, the union now offers à la carte skills such as public lighting, gas, the development of renewable energies, energy management, sustainable mobility, etc. As a public energy player in the department, Territoire d’Énergie Orne works for a balanced and coherent energy development of the territory while preserving the interests of communities and residents. The head office of Territoire d’Énergie Orne aims to be a space for innovative discoveries and exchanges on the subjects of the energy transition.
