The Union Populaire Républicaine (Popular Republican Union) is a
political party in France, founded in 2007 by François Asselineau. The
ideology of the party is a hard Eurosceptic, and seeks the withdrawal
of France from the European Union and the Eurozone. On the basis of
military sovereignty, UPR also wants France to withdraw from NATO.
The party is regularly accused of using conspiratorial rhetoric.

The party also displays in its meetings tricolore flags with a red
cross of Lorraine in the white stripe, a reference to De Gaulle and
sovereignty, and tricolore flags with the emblem of the party (the
olive branch) in red in the white stripe: photo (2024).
According to the party, "this olive branch is not just any olive
branch: it is the resumption, with a barely modernized design, of the
olive branch that appeared for 104 years on all 1 Franc coins, very
exactly between 1898 and 2002".
