Presentation of Identité-Libertés and Sens Commun

Sens Commun was a movement created in 2013 as an association, in opposition to the law introducing same-sex marriage in France. Although its founders are close to the association La Manif pour tous, the association does not "display" any official link with the latter. When it was founded, Sens commun was a political association integrated into the UMP party.

Having become a political party, Sens commun changed its name in 2020 to the Mouvement conservateur (Conservative Movement). In 2021, following the investiture of Valérie Pécresse for the 2022 presidential election by the Les Républicains party, the movement rallied to the candidacy of Éric Zemmour (and his party, Reconquête). In 2024, Laurence Trochu handed over the presidency to Marion Maréchal (born Le Pen). The party then changed its name to Identité-Libertés.

During the 2017 presidential campaign, the movement supported the candidate François Fillon.
