The municipality of Benalúa (3,296 inhabitants in 2014; 869 ha is located 80 km of Granada.

Symbols of Benalúa

The flag of Benalúa is in proportions 2:3, divided into three equal horizontal stripes, the upper white, the central red and the lower green. In the center is placed the municipal coat of arms.
The coat of arms of Benalúa is "Per pale, 1a. Or a cave dwelling proper, 1b. Argent an apple tree fructed proper, 2. Gules an industrial chimney proper ensigned by a cogwheel argent. The shield surmounted by a Royal crown closed."

Neither the flag nor the coat of arms appears to have been official approved.
The first quarter of the shield represents the typical dwelling in the region. The second quarter represents agriculture. The third quarter features the chimney of the sugar mill erected in the early 20th century, which boosted the development of the town during most of the century; the cogwheel is a symbol of industry.
