Shield Gules a basilica Argent with roofs Or, issuant from main roof a griffin-lion Argent armed Or.
Meaning:
The local basilica, a landmark of the municipality is the central charge on the shield. The tinctures silver and red are those of the Welfen kinWelfen As a distinguishing mark the lion of the kin was added, but in differentiated version as griffin-lion, a lion with a griffin's head, Also the arms of the Premonstratensian Steingaden Monastery displayed the lion of the kin, as it had been the abbey of the Welfen kin. The monastery owned estates in the village until 1803.
