Meaning:
The municipality adopted the personal arms of Honoratus Göhl, who had been abbot of the Benedictine Ottobeuren Imperial Abbey from 1767 until 1802. He restored the local parish church. His arms can be seen on its belfry. The abbey owned parts of the village since 1145 and gained nearly complete control in 1699, lost the village however in 1802 due to its secularisation.
