The dade is symbolising the first mentioning of Breddin in 1273. It was discovered in the local church in 1846. The document describes the inauguration of the new altar by Bishop Heinrich of Havelberg. The lower half also refers to the bishop.

Neustadt Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, an embattled city gate Gules with port and cupola Azure, a lion rampant barry of ten of Argent and Gules and a sinister facing elk Gules supporting the cupola.
Meaning:
Neustadt/Dosse is a small city (3,600 inhabitants) in Ostprignitz-Ruppin. The beasts on the coat of arms are quite unusual for a city in Brandenburg: a lion barry of white and red (like on the arms of Hesse), and an elk, probably unique in German civic heraldry. Bensing et al. 1984 explains their origin as follows: The arms were granted in the 17th century by the Prince Friedrich of Hesse-Homburg, who owned the land at that time. His wife had been Margareta Brahe (1603-1669), a countess from the Swedish branch of the Brahe kin. Her granduncle had been famous astronomer Tycho Brahe from the Danish branch. The elk was included, in order to honour the homeland of the countess. For further details click here.

Shield Gules a western fa?ade of a church Argent, sinister flinch Argent charged with a linden leaf in chief.
Meaning:
The church is a representationof the local baroque style church of Sieversdorf. The linden leaf is representing a certain Siegfried, first coloniser of the village. Hero Siegfried from the Nibelungen Saga was killed, because a linden leaf fallen on his back created the only vulnerable position of his body, after he had taken a bath in dragon blood. Both Siegfrieds just have the name in common.
