Zangberg Coat of Arms

Argent over a triplemount Vert a pair of pliers in bend Gules.
Meaning:
The forceps (or pliers) over a triplemount is canting. The triplemount furthermore is symbolising the villages Palmberg, Zangberg and Weilkirchen, all located on hills. The pliers had also been the heraldic symbol of the Halskirchen kin, manorial lords since the 13th century and owners of the district until the end of the 14th century. Also their successors from the Amrangen kin had pliers in their arms. They ceded the village to Duke Heinrich of Bayern-Landshut in 1418. Duke Ludwig the Rich of Bayern-Landshut granted fortress and arms of the Halskirchen kin to Georg Zangberger, who is said to be an illegitimate son of Duke Heinrich. His kin became extinct in the 16th century and the village was regained by the Bavarian dukes.
