Gaienhofen Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, a throughout centred cross Gules, in centre superimposed by an inescutcheon Sable, charged with a bend chequered of Gules and Argent.
Meaning:
In 1974 Gaienhofen merged with Hemmendorf and Horn, the latter including Gundholzen. Hemmendorf had been an old dominion of the Cistercian Nuns of Feldbach Abbey in the Swiss Thurgau. The Cistercian chequered bend is taken from the arms of former Hemmendorf municipality. The other villages had been dominions of the Bishopric of Konstanz. The red cross is taken from the arms of the bishopric and had been part of all former local arms, adopted between 1897 and 1904. Both elements were combined in the current arms.
