    Ueckermünde Coat of Arms

Shield Argent, a griffin rampant Gules armed Or crested by a helm Azure bulged Gules with brooches and necklace Or, scarves Gules and Argent, and on top a double initial "VV" Or.
    Meaning:
Duke Barnim I of Pommern-Stettin gained the area in 1259 as a fiefdom of the Bishopric of Cammin and granted city rights in 1260/1276. Thje arms are based on a seal from 1284. The griffin is alluding to the Dukes of Pommern as local rulers. The inscription in the crest, looking like a "W" is actually an "UU" as abbreviation of "urbs ucra", i.e. the city upon Uecker River

The arms are traditional. The flag is in use since the middle of the 19th century. Both were confirmed in 1994 by Minister of Interior of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and published in the Municipal Roll of Arms Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as no.41.
