The comprehensive municipality of Ahlden acc. to Mrs. Hillert from the local administration has no proper flag. The information is confirmed by this photo, displaying the municipal hall without showing a municipal flag, only Europe, Germany and Lower Saxony, and by §3 of local Hauptsatzung, version 18 February 1993.

The following municipalities don't have proper flags: Eikeloh and Hademstorf.

It is white over green horizontal bicolour.
Meaning:
White and green are the main colours of the coat of arms. Mrs. Hillert from the local administration wrote to me per email that currently no flag exists. This information is confirmed by the local statutes (Hauptsatzung). Stadler however confirms the existence of the bicolour.

Shield parted per bend sinister of Argent and Vert, two lions passant Or in pale, in chief a coronet Or.
Meaning:
The arms had been used on seals long before and are those, which were depicted on a silken banner from the 18th century, which probably had its origin from Princess Sophie Dorothea of Hannover, which lived in Ahlden from 1694 until 1724 as an exile with limited governmental power in the districts of Ahlden, Walsrode and Rethem. The coronet is alluding to the princess as member of the family of rulers. The lions are a modification of the leopards of Braunschweig.

Meaning:
the quarters 1,2 and 3 are referring to horse breeding, blueberry (Latin: Vaccinium myrtillis) cultivation and mining, quarter four perhaps is referring to the Aller marshes or displays the tinctures of Braunschweig-Lüneburg.

Shield Vert, above a Dutch windmill Argent, beneath an eagle's wing Argent with a double clover stem Gules.
Meaning:
The wing is taken from the family arms of the Hodenberg kin, aka Hodenhagen kin, name giver of the municipality. Hodenhagen was established in 1936, when the villages of Riedhagen and Hudemühlen merged. The mill is probably representing Hudemühlen.
