Description of the flag

Unequal triband with dark blue stripes on the sides and a map on the central area. This map shows the coastline and nearby bays, the sea in light blue and the land in pale yellow. The location of Paulatuk is marked by a golden star, and on the map shows also a polar bear, an inukshuk and a caribou. On the top the lettering "Paulatuk" and on the bottom "Southwind Capital", all in upper case dark blue sans italic capitals.

Paulatuk (also spelt Paulatuu, meaning "place of coal"), with a population of 227 (as of 1996), is located at 69°21'N lat. and 124°04'W long, on Darnley Bay in on NW NWT. Local languages are Inuvialuktun and English, and the community belongs to the electoral district of Nunakput and to the land claim area of Inuvialuit.
