Council Flag (since 2019)

The Belize City Council changes its logo and flag. The new flag can be seen at: belizecitycouncil.org.
Valentin Poposki, 17 November 2009

The Belize City Council flag is composed of five equal vertical bands, with one on the right and left being blue. The central three bands are white. In the corners (upper-right and lower-left of the blue bands, respectively), there is a red triangle. In the center is a large City Council logo, which depicts eight stylized people connected together in blue and red, forming a circle. In the center of the circle is a tree of life, with its many leaves being hands in various colors also signifying diversity. Under this emblem, "BELIZE CITY COUNCIL" is read in blue, red, and gray, with the last word visible under CITY. To its left, the city council motto: "Always 'Bout The People" is read.

Flag from about 2009 to 2019

The old flag depicts two thick curved lines over a white field: the one on top being red and the other blue, both national colors. In the upper-left corner is the City Council emblem, which was: a golden disc likely representing the sun surrounded by eleven stars, the central one at the top being bigger representing the city as a whole; the ones to its sides are for the 10 constituencies. In the center of the disc are three stylized houses in red, blue, and white (all on the National Flag). These are held by two hands representing the government, helping the people to develop. Under this, text reads BELIZE CITY in red (the I has a blue star over it). Under this, COUNCIL is read in blue. A thin line in red divides this from the motto of the government at the time: "government of your service".

It should be noted that it is unclear if the flag uses stars on the white field (as can be seen in the image in front of City Hall; the Mayor personally did not use this, at least afterwards.

Flag until about the year 2009

I found in my archive a very small image of the flag of Belize city.
Valentin Poposki, 29 January 2006

The inner device is the seal of Belize city as seen at www.jeffberkman.com.
Dov Gutterman, 14 February 2006

It is a (very dark) blue flag with the city seal centered on it (approx. diameter =7/8ths of the flag's height); this shows a local two storey building and a thin tower on the side; all in yellow-on-blue monochrome. Around it a thick yellow ring reading "BELIZE CITY COUNCIL", above, in blue bold sans-serif capitals, and "Working For A Better City", below, in blue or black letter face.
António Martins-Tuválkin and Eugene Ipavec, 16 February 2006

The seal include two local monuments that are NOT side by side as in the seal. The house is the city hall seen in photos photos at www.pris.bc.ca (with the national and municipal flags) and www.jeffberkman.com The "thin tower" is "Baron Bliss Lighthouse" as seen in photos at www.pris.bc.ca and www.luxner.com.
