King’s personal standard

[Personal Standard of Queen Elizabeth II in Australia, proportions 1:2] image by Zoltan Horvath, 10 April 2024

The King’s personal standard consists of a banner of the coat of arms of Australia, defaced with a gold seven-pointed federation star with a blue disc containing the letter C below a crown, surrounded by a garland of golden roses. The crown is the Tudor crown.

Whilst the new King Charles crown will no doubt be used for the Governor-General’s flag, it is unlikely to happen until more flags are made, and a large number of flags were made only two or three years ago.

I doubt that King Charles will have a personal flag for use in Australia. Changing the Queen’s cypher to a cypher for Charles is plausible, but is speculative at present. I note that Canada has not replaced its Queen’s personal flag for Canada, now using a King’s Standard, which is a banner of the Canadian arms with no cypher.
