Commune 7

Comuna 7 at the end of 2019 adopted a flag, coat of arms and new name for the commune.

"Commune 7, which includes the neighborhoods of Flores and Parque Chacabuco, will be the first Commune in the City of Buenos Aires to have its own name, coat of arms and flag. A contest called “Create the coat of arms and flag of your Commune” was held, organized by the Communal Board, whose winners were the neighbors Marcelo Muni for the adopted designs and Milton Contreras for the second place. The winning name to baptize the area that includes the neighborhoods of Flores and Parque Chacabuco was “Papal Commune.”

The coat of arms will be yellow, representing the Church, which symbolizes the relationship of the then Father Bergoglio, later Pope, with the Basilica of San José de Flores. It will also have green motifs, in reference to Parque Chacabuco and its grove. On the background of the coat of arms stands a building, which alludes to the advance of buildings in the neighborhoods of Flores and Parque Chacabuco."
