Bay Ridge Yacht Club

Lloyd's Register of American Yachts for 1929 shows the burgee of the Bay Ridge Yacht Club (Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, New York, New York, USA).

The burgee is a red triangle with a border along the flywise edges, and with a line under something like 30 degrees starting from the lower hoist corner dividing the field into two panels. The flyward panel divided in two by a flywise line through the centre, the hoistward panel charged with a five-pointed star, all lines and the star very dark blue.

I couldn't find much information on this yacht club. MotorBoating mentions the club, in their April 1911 and March 1938 issues, as well as a number of times in between. These, though, seem to be the earliest and latest mention in general on the Internet. It may be the club was founded in the boom of clubs in the decade before WWI, and eventually disappeared in WWII.

The Brooklyn Historical Society Blog at www.brooklynhistory.org/blog/2013/08/28/photo-of-the-week-postcards-and-the-last-days-of-august mentions a postcard about the club, but unfortunately it doesn't load. Fortunately, it was apparently pinned at www.pinterest.com/pin/353391901981393668, where it shows the caption "Bay Ridge Yacht Club Foot - Bay 47th Street - Brooklyn, N. Y. - Regatta and Water Sports - August 5th, 1934". It appears to show the same design as Lloyd's, as well as a common officer's flag.
