Description of the flag

A blue flag with the city seal in the center. www.cityoflakeland.com/Civic%20Club/flag-info.htm notes: "The Lakeland Civic Club proposed three flag designs to the Board of Commissioners. On August 4 [2005?], the Board of Commissioners adopted one of those designs as an official flag for the city."

A Tennessee design with the city logo in the center. In 1985 a Lakeland city flag designed by Cindy Towsend McCord was chosen from designs submitted in a city-wide contest. It was dedicated at the Homecoming '86 function on June 15, 1986.

This is a very dark blue (Old Glory blue) disc with a wide white ring, itself bordered by a narrow edge of the same shade of blue. Centered on the bottom part of the ring, the lettering "Lakeland Tennessee" set in narrow sans-serif dark red capitals. On the disc, a stylized two-sail ship below a twig of fir (?) dexter, and a cotton "flower" sinister.
