Description of the flag

The flag is a dark blue field with five white circles with red outlines. In each of the circle is a depiction of a certain industry with their names underneath. The first shows a glass worker blowing through a pipe with glass at the end, representing the glassmaking industry. The second shows a steel mill for the steel industry. The third is a full mine cart for the mining industry. The fourth shows a storefront representing business, and finally a church to represent Christianity.

There is no info regarding when the flag was adopted. The only info about it is that is was made by local resident Nerman Monack.

An official borough flag will wave beside Old Glory when Charleroi stages its 85th birthday anniversary in another year. But please as punch about creating their own municipal banner, citizens will get the first public showing of the flag on Flag day, June 14, 1974.
The flag is the brain-child of Norman Monack, an educator and veteran, who drafted the design. he won't take all the credit and asks that tow former students Blanche Girardin and Nancy Gaisbacher, who collaborated on the intricate art he given credit.
Charleroi Area Historical Society, formed to give the long-anticipated birthday anniversary a forward thrust, is solidly behind the program.
Officers said this week plans are taking shape to purchase a master flag for the borough of Charleroi.
This community enterprise also has the endorsement of the Magic City's newly-seated mayor.
Fifty orders have been placed for copies by business men in and around Charleroi.
The Historical Society announced formal dedicatory services will take place, appropriately, on June 14.
An effort is being made to secure a ranking commonwealth official to deliver the speech that day. This would make Charleroi the first in the state's history to hold such a service.
Final day for ordering flags on March 15.
