Description of the flag

The flag of Cleveland County, Oklahoma is a typical U.S. county flag with the county seal, centered on plain green background.
Jens Pattke, 13 November 2016

The flag was approved by the Board of County Commissioners on October 29, 2012. Some discussion was made on having a motto on the flag, but the board decided on sticking with a green background instead.

Cleveland County adopted its county seal on the morning of July 6, 2010. The seal overall represents the growing and dynamic nature of Cleveland County. Within the seal is a green field, representing Cleveland County's environmentally-friendly policies and rolling hills (which can probably also be applied to the background of the flag). Blue is for the county's excellent water resources, while the stars on the dark blue field represent the patriotic nature of Cleveland County residents. Although not included within the explanation in the article, the upper half of the seal clearly evokes the American flag and it appears the outer part of the seal mimics the points of a compass rose.
