To celebrate the bicentennial of Crane Township in August 2025, township trustees commissioned a flag designed by Anna Wells, niece of Trustee Kevin Stuart, and officially approved it in August 2024.
The top half of the flag is blue and symbolizes the Maumee River, which flows through the township and played a significant role in the township’s founding and development.
The bottom half is green for the township’s agricultural heritage and its deep roots in the fertile lands of the Great Black Swamp. Across the center is a gold band which represents the township’s historical transition and pays tribute to such events as the construction of the canal system, the 1887 Reservoir War, and the expansion of the railroads. At the center is a gold-rimmed white circle with a wheat stalk for the township’s primary industry of agriculture.
