Coat of Arms Variant

[Capeludos commune CoA variant] image by Sérgio Horta, 5 May 2010

The arms are Gules a Paschal Lamb Argent holding a cross-bearing staff Or flagged Argent with cross throughout Gules, statant on a book Argent, in chief two orbicular crosses Or, in base wavy Azure a barrulet wavy Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "CAPELUDOS".
Meaning:
The lamb usually is an attribute of St. John the Baptist. The base wavy probably symbolises the little river Rio da Portela. This widespread image, perhaps a former version, is incorrect.

Also the communal Facebook profile displays the arms with book and blue base, which is actually not allowed due to heraldic rules on a red shield. The profile however doesn´t show any flag image.. (editorial note)
