Coat of arms

Shield Gules, in base a bar wavy Argent superimposed by a barrulet wavy Azure beneath an elder tree eradicated Or, accompanied at dexter by a saw blade Argent and an axe Argent crossed per saltire, and at sinister by an anvil Argent. Mural crown with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black initials: "AMIAIS DE BAIXO".
Meaning:
The elder tree (Portugues: amieira) is referring to the name and thus a canting element. Saw and axe are symbolizing the production of timber, the anvil is alluding to ancient iron forging. The bar wavy is symbolizing the banks of a local creek.
