About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of blue and white.

Coat of arms

Shield Argent; issuant from base a mount Vert, charged with a pair of keys in saltire, one Or and one Argent; in chief a goshawk Sable lined Or, holding an inescutcheon Azure, charged with five plates in quincunx, in his claws. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "LOMBA DE S. PEDRO".
Meaning:
Goshawk, and quina, are local symbols of the Azores. The mount, representing a ridge (Port.: lomba) is canting, the crossed keys are an attribute of St. Peter, the local patron saint.
