Mortágua, Vale de Remígio, Cortegaça e Almaça is the only commune of Mortágua Municipality created by a merger during the 2013 changes. It had 3815 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 52,10 km².

Shield Or a pilgrim´s staff Sable in pale with two annexed canteens Gules, flanked by two eradicated corn plants Vert fruited Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "CORTEGAÇA - MORTÁGUA".
Meaning:
The staff is an attribute of St. James the Elder, the local patron saint, well known for pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.
