The arms are Argent a scallop Or in dexter chief a cogwheel Sable fretted with a file Argent per counterband and on sinister chief a fleur de lis Sable and base barry wavy of four, the first barrulet charged with three fish Argent naiant dexter. Mural crown argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "VILA DE VIEIRA DE LEIRIA"
Meaning:
The arms are partly canting, as "vieira_" is Portuguese for "scallop"; the fleur de lis refers to the local river Lis and the other elements stand for the importance of fishing and industry in local history.

Vieira de Leiria Commune is one of the three communes of Marinha Grande municipality (q.v.). It had 5781 inhabitants in 2001 and covers 42,50 km².
