Shield Vert a cogwheel Or, in chief two grape bunches Or, in base issuant from the flanks a hump bridge Argent masoned Sable. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "S. PAIO - GOUVEIA".
Meaning:
"São Paio", often amalgamated to "Sampaio" (another common surname), is the Portuguese name of Pelagius of Córdoba, a 10th century Christian martyr; see here. These arms are not canting.

São Paio is one of the ten communes of Gouveia Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes ; it had 699 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 15,57 km².
