It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain red field.

Coat of Arms

Shield Or three cork oaks eradicated Vert peeled Gules ordered 2:1, on chief a Marian crown Azure. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "SOBRAL DA SERRA".
Meaning:
The cork oaks, representing a grove of those trees (Portuguese: sobral) are canting elements. The crown is an attribute of Our Lady of Grace, the local patron saint.

Sobral da Serra is one of the 35 communes of Guarda Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes; it had 213 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 11,2 km².
