Coat of Arms

Shield Or with base wavy consisting of five connected barrulets wavy alternating of Azure and Argent, at dexter a cleaver Gules hafted Sable in pale, at sinister a dagger Gules in pale, on chief a 5-point star Azure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "PORTO DA CARNE".
Meaning:
The star is symbolising the location at the slopes of the Serra Estrela, a local mountain ridge. It is also an attribute of Our Lady of Good Success, worshipped by the local people with devotion. Cleaver and dagger are attributes of St. Peter of Verona, the local patron saint. The base wavy is a representation of the Montego River. The commune is located on his right bank.
