Coat of arms

Shield Purpure, a wheat ear at dexter and a corn cob at sinister, both Or and ordered per fess, in chief hammer and mallet Argent hilted Or superimposed by a paintbrush Argent in pale, in base a throughout bridge Argent, masoned Sable and having one arch. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll (Bénard Guedes style) with inscription in black capitals "MATANÇA".

Matança Commune is one of the 12 communes of Fornos de Algodres Municipality; it had 243 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 13.8 km².
