Coat of Arms

Shield Or a bar wavy Azure, charged with a barrulet wavy Argent, on chief two chestnut trees Vert in fess eradicated of the same and fructed Argent, on base a sheep passant Sable in a valley Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE VALE FORMOSO E ALDEIA DO SOUTO".
Meaning:
Bar and barrulet are a representation of the Zêzere River, The canting trees are taken from the arms of the former Aldeia do Souto Commune, valley and sheep from those of the former Vale Formoso Commune.

Shield Or with base wavy of Argent and Azure, issuant from base a valley Vert, in centre a sheep Sable, in central chief a 5-point star Azure. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank)and white scroll with inscription in black initials "VALE FORMOSO - COVILHÃ"

The "valley", in fast a fess wavy with only one wave, is a canting element, s the name of the commune means "beautiful valley".

Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank)and white scroll with inscription in black initials "ALDEIA DO SOUTO". Meaning: As the name of the commune means "village of the chestnut grove", the trees in chief are canting.
