Coat of Arms

Shield Vert three fish Argent in pale, flanked at dexter by a staff Or in pale leafed Argent, and at sinister by walnut branch Or fruited Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "S. CRISTÓVÃO DE NOGUEIRA".
Meaning:
The name of the communes means: "St. Christopher of the walnut tree". The walnut branch is thus a canting element, and at least the staff is an attribute of St. Christopher, the Christ Bearer, being local patron saint and name giver of the commune. Due to a legend the saint crossed a river carrying Jesus Christ on his shoulders. Probably also the fish are attributes of the saint, as iconography depicts the staff often with fish hanging down from its top.
