It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a field quartered of red and yellow.

Shield Argent with base wavy of Azure and Argent, a pincer Gules, flanked on dexter chief by grape bunch Purpure leafed Vert, and on sinister chief by a corn cob Or leafed Vert. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "SANTA MARINHA DO ZÊZERE".
Meaning:
The pincer is an attribute of St. Marina, the local patron saint and name giver of the commune. Corn and grapes are representing agriculture. The base wavy is a representation of the Douro River.

Santa Marinha do Zêzere is one of the eight communes of Baião Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes; it had 2796 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 10,7 km².
