Shield Or, two walking sticks Azure in saltire; between two branches of broom (Latin: Cyticus), also in saltire, in chief and a grapevine Argent leaved Vert in base. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "GESTAÇÔ".
Meaning:
The walking sticks are referring to the well-known local production of walking sticks (Port.: bengalos). The broom (Portuguese: giesta) is a canting element. The name of the commune is derived from that plant. The grape bunch stands for viticulture.
