Coat of Arms

[COA of Verran] image by Tomislav Šipek, 16 December 2015

Blazon: I sølv tre grønne trekanter, 1-1-1. In English: Argent three triangles vert in pale.
Approved by the royal resolution of 6 February 1987 after adrawing by Einar H. Skjervold. [c2j87]
The design is canting for the ancient place name Granungar, where "gran" means spruce, therefore the arms depict green spruce trees. Almost 40% of the municipal area is still today under spruce woods. Three triangles also stand for the three centres in the municipality: Harran, Bergsmo and Mediå (so spelled in [c2j87]).
