Engelen merged in 1971 with 's-Hertogenbosch. In 1922 the former municipality
of Bokhoven merged with Engelen.
Flagdescription: four equally wide horizontal stripes of blue - yellow
- white - black.
This flag was adopted by municipal resolution on 7 Apr 1960. The colors
are derived from the municipal arms, in arbitrary sequence.

Granted 18 april 1953. Engelen means angels. This is the angel Yopiël,
the angel, who repelled Adam and Eve from Paradise.
