Bakkefean village (Bakkeveen)

This village is in the municipality Opsterland in southeast Friesland, c. 10 km east of the metropole Drachten. Its flag and Coat of Arms, adopted in 1998, are at the village website. It is in the 'Friese Wouden', hence the green color on the flag and the oakleaf. Yellow is for the sandy soil. I guess the red and black colors are related to the peatdigging in the past.
Jarig Bakker, 8 October 2000

On this page you can read that the village flag and arms of Bakkeveen were designed by Marijke Zwaga and Jelle Terluin.
