The coat of arms was adopted in 1987 through a contest in which the schools of the Municipality were invited to design a municipal coat of arms. On 19 January 1987, under Municipal President Daniel Trejo Trejo (1985-1988), the council designated the coat of arms by the primary school "Xicoténcatl" in the "La Laguna" neighborhood as the winner. Description as provided by the council, probably from a book:
The Official Coat of Arms of Ezequiel Montes is framed by an oval which has the figure of being ixtle rope, traditional artisanry of the Villa Progreso Delegation, furthermore of being an emblem of charrería in the municipal seat. This oval encloses the names of the town and the years in which it obtained officially the denomination "1861 Corral Blanco" and "1920 Ezequiel Montes", legend inscribed over a second oval. In the center of this geometric figure, the map of the State of Querétaro is drawn in which various elements that characterize the Municipality of Ezequiel Montes are observed. Of this form, in the middle of the map, an open door of two pages which is crowned by rays of the sun is visible. Since remote times, for many cultures, the sun and its rays have been a symbol of life. In the left page of the door, education, culture, and technology is represented as present in the municipality [open book, cross, ixtle rope]. On the right page, agriculture, artisanry, and cattle-raising are represented [ear of wheat, blanket, cow]; this last one being the principal economic activity in the Municipality.
In the lower part of the door, a circle is found which encloses the diverse activities which show engineering, work, dedication, and creativity [in newer versions the moon] of its inhabitants. The map of the State rests over a wreath of olive and laurel which signify peace and victory.
In the upper part the eagle is located, symbol of royalty, posed over the work of the Fatherland and the map of the State of Querétaro. Of the left side of the map, a cordial and friendly greeting is distinguished which characterizes the people of Ezequiel Montes. On the right side, a family is represented, which symbolizes the same blood, respect, harmony, and values; to the background the Peña de Bernal [mountain].
In the upper part of the shield, the years mentioned are: 1861, year in which the Corral Blanco ranch was founded and 1987, year in which during a Session of the Council the coat of arms was approved as the official one representative of Ezequiel Montes.
[Under the shield are two swords and a ribbon over it reading "MUNICIPIO AMABLE Y HOSPITALARIO" [Friendly and Hospitable Municipality].
