Emblem from Reglamento de policía y buen gobierno

  • First hoisted on 9 September 2013.
  • Designed by Rolando Trujillo Guzmán, the winner of a contest to choose the municipal flag.

  • Symbolism

According to Rolando Trujillo Guzmán, the nine stars are for the nine villages make up the municipality: El Limón, La Ciénega, San Miguel Hidalgo, San Juan de Amula, El Palmar de San Antonio, San Buenaventura, San Roque, El Rodeo and El Recodo; and where the municipal seat [El Limón] is represented by the central one. Blue in the stars are for the water runs trough the valley where the municipality is located. Green is for nature and the lemon characteristic color. Yellow is to represent the turistic places in the municipality, such as la capilla [the chapel], la iglesia [the temple], el reloj bicentenario [the bicentennial clock], among others.
