San Luis de la Paz uses a gonfalon adopted during the term of Municipal President Sergio Ramón González Guerrero (2003-2006). It has over it the Municipal Coat of Arms and under it the text "NACIÓN CHICHIMECA SAN LUIS DE LA PAZ, GTO."; signifying that the land is in Chichimeca lands. To the sides and at the bottom is a fringe.

Coat of Arms

from Facebook

The coat of arms was adopted in 1968, when Eloy Ramírez was Municipal President. He proposed it and then the Council adopted it as official. That year, the Presidency launched a call for the creation and presentation of municipal coats of arms in the country, with the motive of the Cultural Olympiad. It is the coat of arms of the chief Don Diego de Tapia, general captain of the Chichimecas. Description according to the council:

It is found framed in a square of carving simulating branches, crowned with the legend "HONOR ET GLORIA SOLI DEO" [Latin for ONLY TO GOD, HONOR AND GLORY]. It is divided into two upper and lower fields: the upper fields are divided by a central column, that symbolizes the force of the unity between the viceroyal governments of Mexico and the Kingdom of Spain. The viceroyal field is on the left, where appears as its expression a crowned Mexican eagle, holding an arrow as a symbol of mandate and government. The field of the Kingdom of Spain is symbolizes by a lion of Castille which appears to the right, holding a cross, symbol of the Christian religion and spirit of justice in the government; of the cusp in the column to the snout of the lion, hangs a canvas that reads "NON PLUS ULTRA" that signifies "NOTHING MORE FURTHER", manifesting that over the Kingdom of Spain there was no other major authority [In reality, under the column is a lion holding a chain]. The three lower fields symbolize union and the mix of two people and races, of the Spanish expressed in the left field by an olive tree and of Mexico, especially Chichimeca, in the field to the right, represented by the Indian armed with arrows having the warrior attitude and vigilant of liberty of the land.
