There's an official flag with four pointed star in the canton and the mythologic animal watching to hoist, but frequently is used with the star at fly and animal watching the fly. From the photos I believe that the first one is the official version and the other is a mistake.

In 1920 the students mainly from Rangoon , in a general strike, used first time a flag white with a peacock mainly green inside a red circle. The flag was swallow tailed. The peacock was designed by the student U Ba Chan Similar flags were used from 1921 to 1936. In 1936 the peacock was redesigned by I Ba Chan and named the "Fighting peacock" In 1931 in Rangoon University Aung Sang created the Rangoon University Students Union (RUSU) RUSU led the strike against British in 1935 and in 1936 adopted the golden fighting peacock on red 8 may 1936 RUSU was refounded as All Burma Students’ Union (ABSU) 1951 ABSU changed name to All Burma Federation of Student Unions (ABFSU) 1960, in the 6th conference of ABFSU, were adopted the three flags of the organization. In 1962 ABFSU was declared illegal and led the fight for democracy.

Armed organization founded 1-11-1988 by runaway students (almost all members of ABFSU) after the repression of the democratic movement by the military. Was de facto the armed wing of ABFSU.

With the democratic opening in 2007/2008 the Arakan Students' Union was created with two sections: one for Universities and Rakhine students in Rangoon (U-R) and another for students in Arakan State (AS) ASU-UR flag is red with yellow mythological figure. ASU's flag is red with a golden eagle that is below seven stars. Both flags have all black versions for mourning. (Source)
