Overview

Naujoji Akmene (also serving as the flag of Akmene District) - on a yellow field the arms of Naujoji Akmene: two crossed picks and an orb of flames. Flag proportions 10:13, free edges bordered with a narrow silver stripe, finial is a golden knob. The picks represent the traditional mining of limestone, and the orb of flames represents the actual main business of town: the cement industry.

Akmene District Municipality has 6 Elderships. Its administrative center is the Town of Naujoji Akmene. The District is using the flag of its administrative center. That was resolved with the decision of the Akmene District Council on 16.12.1998. As town emblem, the coat of arms of Naujoji Akmene was granted by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Lithuania No.46, on 17.04.1998. Nowadays, the same flag and coat of arms are official symbols for three entities - Akmene District Municipality, Naujoji Akmene Rural Eldership, and Naujoji Akmene Urban Eldership. The flag is yellow, in the middle there is a coat of arms, the free edges are circled with a narrow silver ribbon. The ratio of height and length is 10:13. Coat of arms: in a black field there is a scarlet circle with golden tongues of fire, in the silver head of the shield there are two scarlet crossed picks. Pick axes signify traditional limestone mining. The circle of flame symbolizes the main industry of the city - the production of cement.
