Located in Suita City Osaka Prefecture and established in 1931. The flag is white field charged with a skyblue emblem in the center and horizontally written skyblue kanji university name at the bottom. The emblem was established in 1991 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Osaka University. The creator is graphic designer Ikko Tanaka. The intent of the design was to use the motif of a gingko tree that has a 60-year tradition, and to have the "O" in the shape of three arcs to express a sense of closeness to the university, its students, and its citizens, without losing the intelligence and prestige of a university with a long history.
