The city emblem was adopted on Jan 1st 2007 by Notice No 1 but there is no flag law. The white flag has a green, a blue, a red three color city emblem in the center. The city emblem is a stylized hiragana うす Usu of Usuki. The green and the blue colors stand for water and a rich nature such as Bungo Channel and  Usuki river, the red color for the sun, a warmth, a vigor and a cultural history. As a whole, it represents an image of a child who is strongly grown with an uplifting feeling.
